#100Coffees 1/100: Nina & Paul – Marquees of Woburn - Belly Laughs & Bougie Garden Parties

If you’re going to start a series about the people behind the weddings, you start with your people.

Nina, Paul and I first crossed paths about four years ago, and somewhere between site visits, supplier chats, and laughing in grassy fields, we became proper industry friends.

I invited Nina of Marquees of Woburn round to our new house (yay) for a coffee and a catch up as it's been about 3 months since our last event together (an epic Marquee wedding on The Mindfulness Meadow) and frankly - it was well overdue!

Now - before anything else, you should know this: they are huggers.

The proper, warm, full-body, “come here you” kind. Much like me, the minute you meet them you’re swept up into a wonderful cuddle and instantly feel like you belong.

Before marquees, Nina and Paul were both in corporate finance.

Then COVID hit. Redundancies followed. And like so many brilliant small businesses, Marquees of Woburn was born from a “we can’t go back to that” moment.

A trip to the coast, a conversation with friends who ran a larger marquee company, and a spark of “we could do this – and do it our way” led them to designing their own bespoke structures.

Not cookie-cutter. Not boring. But clever, flexible, and genuinely exciting.

They’ve created marquees that:

  • Zip together to form large, interchangeable spaces

  • Allow real creativity with lighting thanks to trapeze wire systems

  • Feel less “event hire” and more experience-led design

In their own words, they realised early on that they were perfect for a “bougie garden party” – and honestly, they're not wrong!

Nina is the driving force behind the business. The face, the grace, the captain.

Her dream aesthetic is rustic white and green.

Quintessential English garden party vibes — rustic, relaxed, elegant, timeless. The kind of styling that makes guests feel instantly at ease.

And then there’s Nina herself…

Her favourite colour is pink. 🩷 I’ve been in their kitchen and I can confidently say it is the pinkest kitchen I’ve ever seen, and somehow still completely stunning. Bold, joyful, and unapologetically Nina.

Partial to a sip or two of Veuve Clicquot 🍾- or, conversely, coffee blacker than coal - she will always join you or me in a full belly laugh. What more could you want? Dream girl!

Alongside Marquees of Woburn, they also run The Mindfulness Meadow — a beautiful space for micro-weddings, retreats and festivals that reflects their calm, community-focused values and their commitment to giving back locally.

If you haven't been, it's well worth a visit!

Now. Let’s talk about Paul...

Paul is:

💎 The diamond smile

🦊 The silver fox

🕺 And all-round Ibiza geezer

He is always the first one on site. Tunes on. Vibes set. Energy high.

He’s also an absolute machine when it comes to erecting and maintaining his marquees — and I don’t say this lightly: they are impeccably clean. Borderline obsessively so. And honestly? That’s exactly why you’d hire him.

Paul pours an extraordinary level of care and attention into the business. Every pole, every zip, every detail matters. His pride in what he creates is visible the moment you walk into one of their structures.

And because apparently one iconic role wasn’t enough, Paul also offers security services for their garden parties — affectionately known as Silver Fox Security, which may be one of my favourite things in the bougie garden party industry, full stop.

Together, Nina and Paul are:

✨ A homegrown family business

🐶 Completely besotted with their boxer dogs

🦆 Duck breeders (which bonded us instantly, as a fellow chicken keeper & enthusiast)

🤍 Deeply involved in and supportive of their local community

Every time we work together, there’s music playing, dancing during set up, and a whole lot of laughter. That joy is exactly why Nina trusts me to coordinate so many of their side events — from funeral wakes to birthday parties to bridal showers — and why I’m proud to be their preferred floristry, styling & décor supplier.

This series isn’t just about coffee.

It’s about people, hugs, trust, collaboration, and suppliers who care deeply about what they bring into the world.

So here’s to Coffee No.1 ☕

To bougie garden parties, pink kitchens, silver fox security, and truly brilliant humans.

Here’s to Nina and Paul — and here’s to the next 99 💛
